By making treated grass unpleasant to eat, the program encourages geese to look elsewhere for their next meal.

How It Works
Change the Feeding Habit.
Give them a reason to move along.
A maintained lawn can become a regular feeding stop for geese. When they repeatedly return to the same grass, the grazing and droppings become an ongoing property-management problem. Goose Detour works through taste-based behavioral modification. The treatment leaves designated grass with an unpleasant, bitter taste. Geese can land and begin grazing, but the treated grass is intended to discourage continued feeding and encourage them to seek more desirable, untreated areas.
Goose Detour does not prevent geese from landing. It gives them a reason not to keep eating in the treated area.
Targeted Border Treatment
We focus on defined grassy areas around ponds, retention areas, drainage ditches, and other locations where goose feeding creates a nuisance. Each standard application includes up to ½ acre of actual treated turf-border area.
UTV-Mounted Application
Wilkins applies the treatment using a UTV-mounted sprayer with a 9-foot boom. Where terrain and access allow, two adjacent passes create an approximately 18-foot-wide treatment band along the agreed perimeter.
Mow First. Treat Afterward.
The preferred application time is the day after mowing, or within the following couple of days, provided the grass is dry. Treating then immediately cutting removes treated foliage and shortens the application's useful life.
30–40 Day Performance
When treatment protocols are followed, expected performance is 30–40 days on average. Routine service is scheduled approximately every 30 days to maintain the recurring treatment program.
